Emmys Spotlight on Palestinian Advocacy

The Emmys saw a notable moment for the pro-Palestinian movement on Sunday night, as actress Hannah Einbinder used her acceptance speech to voice strong opinions, declaring “Free Palestine” and making a brief expletive-laden statement.

Einbinder’s comments came while she received the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy, which caught quite a bit of attention.

She wasn’t alone in her stance, either. Earlier in the evening, her hack co-star, Megan Starter, turned heads on the red carpet with a sign stating “Stop the fire.”

Javier Bardem, the Academy Award winner, also made headlines by expressing his unwillingness to collaborate with companies supporting Israel amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza. He shared his views while speaking to reporters on the Emmy red carpet, wearing a symbolic Keffiyeh.

When asked about aligning with companies doing business in Israel, he unequivocally stated, “I won’t work. I can’t do it with someone who justifies or supports genocide. I can’t. It’s just as easy. In this industry or any industry, we can’t do it.”

As reported by Breitbart News last week, Bardem is among over a thousand celebrities from Hollywood and the broader film industry who have pledged to boycott Israel’s film sector in response to the Gaza war.

“Many within the European, UK, and US film industries have signed a statement from a group called Palestinian Film Workers (FWFPs),” the report highlights.

The FWFP is assessing “co-complainants” who allegedly claim the Israeli film industry contributes to “genocide” in Gaza, seeking instances of complicity in justifying what they label genocide and apartheid.

The signatories of the pledge include prominent figures like Yorgos Lanthimos, Ava DuVernay, Adam McKay, Boots Riley, Emma Seligman, Joshua Oppenheimer, Mike Lee, Emma Stone, Olivia Colman, Ayo Edebiri, Lily Gladstone, Mark Ruffalo, and of course, Hannah Einbinder, among others.
