A Haitian released into the United States is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at a sanctuary Massachusetts immigrant shelter.
Cory Alvarez, 26, an immigrant from Haiti, arrested This week, he was charged with aggravated rape of a child under 16. Alvarez has since maintained his innocence.
Plymouth County law enforcement said Alvarez was living at an immigrant shelter in Rockland, Massachusetts, when he invited the 15-year-old girl into his room. The girl told police she promised Alvarez she would help him open an app on his tablet, she said.
Police allege Alvarez raped the girl even though she asked him to stop.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey (Democrat) Said Media reported that Alvarez arrived in the state after being released into the United States “through a federal program.” Perhaps President Joe Biden’s parole pipeline would allow people arriving at the southern border to be released inland until their immigration cases are resolved. .
“His person was in this country under a federal program,” Healy said. “…Again, while we do not know the details of this case, we take all allegations of sexual assault most seriously. Our hearts go out to the family. We need to let the criminal justice system do its job.”
Alvarez was forced to surrender his passport and is being held without bail in Plymouth County.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took Alvarez into custody, but Massachusetts does not allow law enforcement to cooperate in turning over criminally illegal aliens to federal agents.
