Haitian migrant, now a double homicide suspect, was allowed into US by Biden admin via controversial app

Fox’s first appearance: A Haitian immigrant now accused of murdering two of his roommates in New York has been paroled into the United States after booking on the controversial CBP One app. The app was expanded by the Biden administration to allow tens of thousands of immigrants to enter the United States each month.

Kenol Baptiste, a Haitian national, was arrested in Middletown, New York., Middletown PD said in a statement earlier this month that he was charged April 1 with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said two men suffered multiple stab wounds. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other suffered serious injuries and died during surgery. Police said Baptiste was an acquaintance of the victims and all lived at the same address. Baptiste was found by a police K9 team in a nearby wooded area. He was then booked into the Orange County Jail.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Fox News Digital that Baptiste arrived in the United States in July 2023 when he turned himself in at the Paso del Norte Port of Entry in El Paso, Texas.

A spokesperson said he reported to the port of entry on July 25 after making an appointment on the CBP One app. Mr. Baptiste was served with a Notice to Appear in Immigration Court (NTA), processed, and paroled to the United States pending removal proceedings. ICE has since taken him into custody and is requesting that he be transferred to an ICE detention center upon his eventual release.

The app was created under the Trump administration but expanded last year by the Biden administration as part of the administration’s efforts to expand “legal pathways” for immigrants, allowing up to 1,450 immigrants a day to enter the U.S. You can now make reservations. This is to address a historic crisis on our southern border. The app claims to have helped facilitate the safe and orderly entry of immigrants into the United States in a way that does not involve illegal entry.

The expanded app will allow immigrants to upload a photo and provide additional information before booking.Officials said immigrants will be screened using biometric and biographical data before being allowed to enter the United States.

Haitian immigrants are one of the most common nationalities, along with Mexican and Venezuelan immigrants.

Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus confirmed to Fox News Digital that the two men who were stabbed were also Haitian and that Baptiste was awaiting trial from a federal judge.

“He came across the border, the government gave him dossiers and he was scheduled to have an asylum hearing before a federal judge,” he said.

A total of seven people lived in that one apartment, Neuhaus said. He also said he believes the story is under-reported because the victims were not American citizens.

“Unfortunately, there are two people who died, and most people didn’t know they were in the community,” he said.
