Hamas Aims to Stop the Conflict, While Israel Seeks to Recover Hostages and Continue Fighting

Qatar Prime Minister Comments on Israel-Hamas Conflict

During a segment on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohamed bin Abdul Raman al-Thani expressed that a contract between Israel and Hamas remains elusive. He highlighted ongoing hostilities, noting that while some political factions seek to end the conflict, the issue of hostages is not sufficiently acknowledged.

Al-Thani remarked, around the 5:10 mark, on the release of Edan Alexander as a positive step but emphasized the need for “a lot of pressure” to achieve broader agreements. He lamented that shortly after this initial success, violence resumed, specifically mentioning an attack on a hospital in Gaza.

Host Brett Beyer interjected, stating, “The Israelis clearly indicate they are targeting senior Hamas leaders.” In response, Al-Thani clarified that targeting these leaders should not come at the cost of civilian lives, referencing a previous incident where many were killed. He pointed out the deep divisions between the political parties, where one is focused on recovering hostages while the other is entrenched in continuing the conflict, seemingly ignoring the hostage situation.
