Huckabee Discusses Food Aid in Gaza

Israeli Ambassador Mike Huckabee spoke with Breitbart News on Tuesday, asserting that any food deprivation in Gaza is the responsibility of Hamas, not Israel.

While Huckabee acknowledged the hunger present in Gaza, he emphasized that Israel is making efforts to ensure Palestinians receive aid. He pointed out that Hamas seems more focused on undermining aid efforts and tarnishing Israel’s image than genuinely helping the Palestinian people.

He elaborated, “The simple truth is that Hamas is at the helm of starvation. When I see members of Hamas, I notice they aren’t starving. They’re quite well-fed, in fact. Yes, starvation might exist in Gaza, but it’s not due to a lack of food on Hamas’s part. It’s the Israeli hostages who are truly in need. Leaders from Europe, like Macron and Starmer, pressure Israel to drop food into Gaza, but they should instead push Hamas to care for the hostages and stop their destructive actions.”

He added that the role of Hamas hasn’t been constructive, citing incidents where they obstruct access to food aid and allegedly hoard supplies intended for the people. According to Huckabee, Hamas profited significantly last year—around $500 million—through mismanagement of resources.

He also took issue with the United Nations, accusing them of enabling Hamas. “I posted a photo on Twitter showing 900 trucks loaded with food at the border, yet none were getting through. If you’re genuinely concerned about hunger, why not ensure that aid reaches those who need it?” he questioned. Huckabee expressed his frustration with the UN’s ineffectiveness and questioned the ongoing financial support from the U.S.

Recently, Huckabee visited a facility run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)—a U.S. and Israeli-backed initiative that has successfully delivered meals to over 100 million people in Gaza. He stated, “A lot of food is being sent into Gaza, but Hamas often steals it before it can be distributed. There’s nothing controversial about GHF, and it operates effectively. It ensures that people receive food and essentials, even if it evokes resentment from Hamas.”

As Huckabee addressed criticisms from within Israel, his points highlighted the complications and challenges in providing humanitarian aid amid the ongoing conflict.
