Hamptons real estate mogul Brandon Miller died $34M in debt with just $8k in the bank: report

Brandon Miller, a prominent New York real estate developer who committed suicide last month, was in even more severe financial trouble than initially disclosed at the time of his death.

Miller, 43, who had been secretly racking up millions in debt with his influencer wife Candice and flaunting a lavish lifestyle in the Hamptons, was found to have just $8,000 in his bank account and a deficit of nearly $34 million. The Real Deal I will report.

Through Candace's now-shuttered lifestyle blog, Mama + Tata, Miller portrayed the happy-go-lucky, doting head of an idyllic upper-class household, showcasing her fairytale life to the world.

A close friend of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, stylists Rachel Zoe and Ivanka Trump, and her cousin, fashion blogger Arielle Charnas of Something Navy, Candice flaunted a seemingly perfect life that sparked both envy and indignation.

In reality, the family was living extravagantly beyond their means and was heavily in debt.

About $11.5 million of Miller's debt came from a mortgage on his family's Walter Mill estate, now for sale for $15.5 million, split across four different loans.

The largest of the outstanding debts was an $11.3 million unsecured loan from BMO Bank of Chicago, along with a $6.1 million unsecured loan from Donald Jaffe, who provided financing for Mr. Miller and his father, Michael Miller, in several development projects.

He owed more than $300,000 to American Express, $266,000 to Funding Club, a Brooklyn-based cash advance service, and hundreds of thousands of dollars more to various companies and service providers.

Miller was found unconscious in her car in the garage of her family's sprawling 4,300-square-foot home in the Hamptons and was rushed to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where she died a few days later.

At the time of his death, sources told The Washington Post that he was $17 million in debt, half of what is now known.

Page Six recently learned Candace and the couple's two young daughters are planning to move to Miami to start a new life.
