Harris apparently ignores RFK Jr.’s offer to drop out of race, endorse her in exchange for possible position in admin

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has reached out to Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, offering to drop out of the race and support her in exchange for a powerful, possibly Cabinet-level, position in her administration if she wins, but Harris has so far ignored him.

According to multiple reports, RFK Jr., a 70-year-old independent presidential candidate from a long-established Democratic family, contacted the Harris campaign last week, attempting to arrange a meeting to discuss the offer.

“I’ve said from the beginning of this campaign that people need to talk to each other,” RFK Jr. said. New York Post“That’s the only way to unite the country.”

He also suggested it would be a “strategic error” for Harris to reject or ignore his offer.

“They should take every opportunity,” he explained. “I think it’s going to be a very close game.”

Despite RFK Jr.’s public pleas to focus on Harris, Harris and her team have yet to respond, Amaryllis Fox KennedyRFK Jr.’s campaign manager.

“Mr Kennedy is willing to meet with leaders of both parties to discuss the possibility of a united government.”

Democrats as a whole have made it clear they want nothing to do with the son of Bobby Kennedy, a giant of the 1960s Democratic Party who was assassinated, and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy.

“No one has any intention of negotiating with the radical, MAGA-funded candidates who have offered jobs in exchange for Donald Trump’s support,” Democratic National Committee spokesman Matt Corridoni said in a statement. CNN on wednesday.

RFK Jr. has not denied lobbying the Trump campaign, and in fact he and Trump met in person in Milwaukee last month to reportedly discuss RFK Jr.’s role in a second term for the Trump administration.

RFK Jr.’s team also appears to have leaked a video of a phone call between RFK Jr. and Trump around that time. In the clip, Trump touches on several topics, including issues related to childhood vaccinations and a call with Biden after he was nearly killed in a shooting at the Butler rally, but does not openly address RFK Jr.’s role in exchange for the endorsement.

“Mr. Kennedy is open to meeting with leaders of both parties to discuss the possibility of a united government,” a spokesman for RFK Jr. told the New York Post.

Earlier this year, before Joe Biden dropped out of the race, RFK Jr. also tried to make inroads on the campaign trail, to no avail.

RFK Jr. told the New York Post that he has not had any contact with Democrats since running for president last year, and CNN noted that Democrats have run ads calling RFK Jr. an “obstructionist.”

The Harris campaign did not respond to The New York Post’s request for comment.
