Brian Fallon, senior communications adviser to the Harris campaign, said in a recent interview with Politico that voters and the media “shouldn't read too much into” Vice President Kamala Harris' lack of interviews.

“First, people shouldn't read too much into what some are saying was a dearth or lack of interviews in the first six weeks of the campaign.” Fallon told Politico: Eugene Daniels.

Harris gave her second high-profile interview to the National Association of Black Journalists on Tuesday since emerging as a candidate. She also sat down with Oprah Winfrey, who endorsed her as a presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention, and has spoken to local radio stations in recent weeks.

“She had to do a lot on a very short schedule just to get her campaign off the ground,” Fallon said.

CNN commentator slams Harris after meeting with Oprah Winfrey: “Has she ever met with a hostile media outlet?”

Fallon also argued that Harris' media appearances as vice president tell voters what to expect from her press conferences in the 50 days remaining until Election Day.

“Kirsten Allen, who runs the press office on the official side, frequently had her appear on daytime talk shows, in national magazine interviews and in national roundtable discussions with television networks. 60 min “She had a cable hit late last year and has had over 80 interviews in the first seven months of this year. This is Kamala Harris' default setting in terms of engaging with the media,” Fallon said.

“It's going to be pretty much that over the remaining 50 days of this campaign,” Fallon added.

Keisha Lance Bottoms, a senior adviser to Harris, recently dismissed Harris' lack of a press conference in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper.

“Why doesn't she do more interviews and talk about policy and answer questions voters have about policy and her changing views on policy?” Tapper asked.

“Jake, she's doing interviews,” Lance Bottoms responded. “We would love to see her, and you would love to see her doing interviews on CNN every day. But she's a very busy person. She's the candidate as well as the vice president.”

Fallon also said Harris plans to do more podcasts and late-night interviews.

“We're going to be working with national news organizations. We're going to be offering a lot of digital-first opportunities, including podcasts, late-night shows and daytime talk shows,” Fallon said.
