Harris supporters sound off on her border blueprint at Arizona rally

Supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris spoke to Fox News Digital on Friday outside Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, with Harris and running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz later taking the stage.

Fox News Digital asked attendees to define Harris’ border policy and whether they supported it, a discussion that often led to a wide variety of follow-ups.

“The truth is, I like them all,” one woman said of Harris’ policies.

“Because I think she represents the average American. I don’t think she’s extreme in any way.”

When asked about the border, the woman said America will get through the border crisis because Harris will take full responsibility.

“Remember, she was the vice president, not the president,” she said.

“So I think the policies that she puts in place will make a difference at the border. And we still have Mark Kelly,” she said, referring to former astronaut and Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly, who took the stage later that night with his wife, Gabby Giffords.

The woman added that she believes Harris will “bridge” the differences between Democrats and Republicans over border policy.

She pointed to a bill authored by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona and Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma as an example of something Harris supported but failed to deliver.

“We had a bill that was introduced that was never signed because President Trump didn’t want to sign it,” she said, “It’s not perfect, but we’re willing to work to find a way to get people through in a way that doesn’t inconvenience the American people and helps those who need it.”

Three women from nearby Phoenix also took time to share their thoughts on Harris’ border policy.

“I think her policies are consistent with Biden’s policies on that particular issue and I think his approach is very sound,” one of the women said.

“I think there are already a lot of laws in place to control border policy and the people who have asylum here,” the second woman added.

“What the administration is doing right now is following the law,” she said, adding that it’s important to make sure asylum seekers have valid refugee claims.

“I’m not sure about the border,” a woman walking toward Desert Diamond’s east entrance said when asked about Harris’ position.

“I support it,” she said. “I’m not as extreme as Trump. [which is] It’s out of control. I’m an extreme advocate of border control.”

Asked if Harris would bring that kind of control, the woman replied, “Right now, I hope so. I hope and pray that that’s the case.”

Lance, a military veteran from Goodyear, Arizona, who was wearing a shirt that said “Veterans Support Harris. I’m Not a Loser,” said Republicans have focused a lot on the border, but Biden and Harris are also addressing the crisis.

He said Republican candidate Trump promised to pass an infrastructure plan but never delivered, suggesting he was more disappointed with Trump’s performance in office than anything else.

“I am a strong believer in a woman’s right to choose and in equality for all people, including LGBTQ people,” she added. “Although this veteran is married to another man, I hope that this right will not only continue into the future, but be passed down to younger generations.”

“Whether it be health care, taxing billionaires and corporations instead of giving them tax cuts, and, like Trump, claiming to be foreign to ordinary people. [Harris and Walz] Their economic policies are really for the average person. And their economic policies are [Trump] The White House.”

“[Trump’s] He predicted that health care policy would be “never seen before,” and he was right because no one had seen it before.”

Lance, who describes himself as a “left liberal,” called on all Democrats who are not “100 percent happy” with Harris, saying the party needs to come together across ideological lines to “protect our democracy.”

“I’m turning 71 in a month, and I feel like this is the most dangerous and dangerous time of my life in the United States of America.”
