On Friday’s episode of NewsNation’s “The Hill,” Rep. Gabe Amo (D-RI) countered claims by 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris that she hasn’t done anything to combat inflation during her time as vice president, saying inflation has decreased and “we are reaping the benefits of truly thoughtful policies from President Biden and VP Harris.”
After playing a video of former President Donald Trump, a 2024 Republican presidential candidate, responding to Harris’s first-day pledge to fight inflation by noting that she has been vice president for three and a half years, host Blake Berman asked, “Why isn’t she doing that, Senator?”
Amo responded, “I think you’ve seen the latest numbers. Inflation is at its lowest it’s been in years. It’s taken a lot of hard work. We were in the middle of the COVID pandemic, and we know the knock-on effects that that had across the economy, but now we’re seeing the benefits of really thoughtful policies from President Biden and Vice President Harris. So, they’ve actually been addressing the issues. President Trump is just trying to distract from the progress that, frankly, is indisputable if you talk to any economist and focus on badmouthing it.”
