Vice President Harris and former President Trump are neck and neck in three key battleground states. New poll The announcement came just days before the first debate.
A CBS News/YouGov poll released Sunday found Harris leading Trump by two points in Wisconsin (51 percent to 49 percent) and one point in Michigan (50 percent to 49 percent). In Pennsylvania, Harris and Trump are tied at 50 percent.
All results are within margin of error.
Harris holds a commanding lead over Trump on questions about enthusiasm among registered voters of each party.
In Michigan, 89% of Democrats say they are excited about Harris' campaign, while 78% of Republicans say they are excited about Trump's. In Wisconsin, 87% of Democrats say they are excited about Harris' campaign, while 76% of Republicans say they are excited about Trump's. And in Pennsylvania, 82% of Democrats say they are excited about Harris' campaign, while 75% of Republicans say they are excited about Trump's.
Those three battleground states are seen as crucial to either candidate's chances of winning the White House, and recent polls suggest Harris' campaign, in particular, may still have some room to win over voters.
Among voters who said they would not or had no intention of voting for Harris, 10% said they would vote for her or “maybe” consider voting for her in Wisconsin, compared with 7% in Michigan and 6% in Pennsylvania.
Among voters who would not or would not vote for Trump, 4% in Wisconsin said they would vote for Harris or would “probably” consider voting for her, while 8% in Michigan and 4% in Pennsylvania said the same.
The survey was conducted September 3-6, 2024, among 1,086 voters in Michigan, 1,085 voters in Pennsylvania, and 958 voters in Wisconsin. The margin of error is 3.7 percentage points in Michigan, 3.5 percentage points in Pennsylvania, and 4 percentage points in Wisconsin, respectively.
