A new national poll shows former President Trump has an advantage over Vice President Harris in the race to succeed President Biden in the White House.
A Wall Street Journal poll released Wednesday night found Trump with 47% support among likely voters nationwide, compared to 45% for Harris.
This is a switch from the magazine's previous national poll, conducted in late August, which showed Harris with a two-point lead.
The former president's lead is within the margin of error in the new poll, meaning either President Trump or the vice president could lead the race.

Wall Street Journal poll – It also shows that out of 1,500 registered voters questioned between October 19 and 22, Mr. Trump maintains a 3-point lead over Ms. Harris (49%-46%) in head-to-head contests.
According to the poll, views of Harris have become more negative since August, with her favorability rating at an underground 8 points and her approval rating as vice president between 42% and 54%. Meanwhile, views of Trump have improved, with voters approving of his past performance in the White House by a 52% to 48% margin.
The new poll follows a national Fox News poll conducted Oct. 11-14 and released last week that showed the Republican presidential candidate with a 2-point lead over the Democratic standard-bearer. It was done.
A number of other national polls in this area over the past two weeks, including CBS News, Marist, and USA Today/Suffolk University polls, show Ms. Harris with a slight advantage over Mr. Trump. But most opinion polls are within the margin of error.

National polls are helpful, but the race for the White House is not based on the national popular vote, but rather a battle for states and their electoral votes.
