‘He Will Be A Different Guy’: Van Jones Warns Trump Will ‘Be Much More Formidable’ If He Does Second Harris Debate

CNN's Van Jones said Friday that former President Trump would likely put in a stronger performance if he agrees to a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump made the announcement on Truthful Social on Thursday. post After Tuesday's debate, Trump said he has no plans to debate Harris again, despite Harris' campaign pushing for another debate in October. Jones told CNN News Central that Trump would be a tougher opponent for Harris in a second debate, but added that he believes the vice president is steadily improving his communication skills. “Either way, she wins. She can call him a coward all day and talk about how she beat him, and he has to pretend that he won when everyone knows he lost. If she debates him again, he'll be a different person. He usually messes up the first debate but does better the second,” Jones said. “I think he underestimated her. I think he had weirdos surrounding him on the plane, hyping him up with all sorts of crazy things like eating dog. So when he got there he wasn't in the right frame of mind and she got the better of him.”

“I think he hates losing and he knows he lost and I think he'll be even tougher if he comes back. But Kamala Harris is also getting better and better every day. Every time she steps on the microphone she gets better,” he added. “Her speeches get better every time… She was better on the debate stage than almost anyone who's ever been on a debate stage. She blew Trump away. Donald Trump is the Pac-Man of politics. He blew away 16 Republican governors and senators like it was nothing. She was the bullfighter who stopped the bullfight.”

ABC News debate modes Lindsey Davis and David Muir have faced criticism for repeatedly fact-checking Trump's comments while condoning Harris' irrefutable falsehoods.

The poll found that more than 20% more viewers believed Harris won the debate than Trump. CNN and YouGovBut Trump claimed in a post on Thursday that “the polls are clearly pointing to victory,” and on Wednesday Posts A screenshot of a particular poll showing that viewers think he won.

Trump previously challenged Harris to three debates, but she only accepted the showdown on ABC News.
