Head of company that secured women's sports victories at the Supreme Court discusses handling liberal media and Title IX lawsuits

Kristen Wagoner Discusses Recent Supreme Court Victory and Ongoing Legal Battles

Kristen Wagoner, the President, CEO, and Principal Counsel of Alliance Defending Freedom, recently reflected on her firm’s significant Supreme Court triumph aimed at “saving women’s sports.” In an interview, she shared insights into her experiences with mainstream media and the legal challenges they face against states controlled by Democrats that allow biological male trans athletes to participate in women’s sports.

Her Thoughts on Media Interactions

Wagoner: “I’m thrilled with how far we’ve come. Just ten years ago, discussing these issues was quite challenging. Now that many Americans observe the differences between men and women more clearly, I think there’s a growing awareness.” She noted a shift in media perception, citing that around 80% of Americans support women’s rights to fair competition. “I’ve seen brave young female athletes standing up for the truth, even during difficult interviews.” She expressed gratitude for opportunities to share differing viewpoints, particularly with networks like CNN, despite facing probing questions.

Legal Actions Across 23 States

Wagoner: “We aim to eliminate gender ideology from our legal framework, aware it harms women, girls, and, crucially, children. Scientific evidence is emerging to support this. We’ve initiated lawsuits in these 23 states and will persist in our efforts to safeguard the rights of women and girls.” She emphasized that this fight requires collective action, noting, “It’s not just a court battle; it needs cultural support, too.”

Recent Incidents in Washington State

Wagoner: “The alleged experience of Kayley Keeler is troubling, to say the least. Being a young girl involved in wrestling, only to face an assault situation, is devastating. This isn’t just an isolated issue; the risks of sexual assault are very real in these contexts.” She condemned the state’s argument surrounding consent as particularly outrageous, and vowed to continue pursuing justice in this case.

Concerning Conversations and Reports

Wagoner: “It’s disheartening that such subjects need to enter public discourse. The criminal elements of threats and sexual assault must be addressed seriously, particularly as they relate to women’s rights to privacy and safety.” She pointed out that each incident reveals the harm done when boys enter women’s private spaces, and the psychological toll it takes on girls.

Title IX Legal Cases in Minnesota

Wagoner: “Yes, we’re accustomed to the tough stances. Even if we lose a case at a lower level, we keep fighting. This was the scenario in Minnesota.” She noted that allowing men into women’s sports diminishes not just scholarships and trophies but fundamentally impacts the very essence of team dynamics. “The Supreme Court has set a precedent where they recognize the zero-sum nature of this issue.” She added, “One boy taking a place on a team denies that opportunity to a girl, and that’s fundamentally unjust.”

Legal Victory for Vermont Christian School

Wagoner: “We’re determined to advocate not only for women’s and girls’ rights but also the rights of Christian schools across America. This is, at its core, a matter of religious freedom and extends beyond just Christian beliefs.” She asserted the necessity of acknowledging biological differences as backed by scientific evidence.

Upcoming Lawsuits and Future Plans

Wagoner: “While there are plans in motion, I can’t divulge specifics just yet. What I can confirm is that the Alliance Defending Freedom is committed to acting strategically for the best impact.” She strongly encouraged other women considering participation in this fight for women’s sports.

A Call to Action

Wagoner: “My main message is that there’s no place for cowardice, only for courage. Speaking up for women and girls is crucial. The opportunities that Title IX has afforded many athletes must remain accessible for future generations, and it’s essential to advocate boldly.”
