Health officials are accused of concealing myocarditis risks linked to COVID vaccines.

Concerns Raised Over Covid-19 Vaccine Risks

U.S. health officials were reportedly aware of the myocarditis risks tied to the Covid-19 vaccine, yet they seem to have minimized these concerns and hesitated in informing the public, according to a recent Senate report by Senator Ron Johnson. Johnson, a Republican from Wisconsin and chair of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, has been examining the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness. Earlier this year, he called upon the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for data related to vaccine safety and communication about the pandemic.

A 55-page interim report, reviewed by sources, indicated that the Biden administration allegedly withheld crucial health information from the subcommittee and the public. Johnson noted that over 70 surveillance letters had been sent since 2021, many of which went unanswered or inadequately addressed.

According to the report, records obtained through subpoenas suggest the HHS had knowledge of myocarditis cases linked to the mRNA Covid-19 vaccine but chose not to issue formal warnings when they should have. Johnson’s findings reference documentation from May 2021 contemplating whether HHS officials would formally alert the public regarding myocarditis risks. However, it’s noted that the CDC and FDA eventually opted out of this formal alert in favor of posting “clinical considerations” on the CDC website.

“From the records obtained so far, the picture painted indicates that the officials were aware of the risks but chose to downplay them,” Johnson stated. He pointed out that even communications from Israel’s Ministry of Health in early 2021 highlighted a surge in myocarditis cases, particularly among the youth following Pfizer vaccinations. Yet, discussions within the CDC on safety signals continued without immediate public warnings.

Documents also shed light on dialogues between CDC officials and vaccine manufacturers like Moderna and Pfizer regarding these risks. Draft memos from late May 2021 revealed that discussions were ongoing about the side effects observed in individuals receiving the vaccines.

Johnson remarked that, instead of being proactive in informing the public and healthcare providers, the Biden administration delayed announcing the increased risks tied to myocarditis until late June 2021, risking the health of young Americans in the process. The report critiques the administration’s decision to downplay these health risks, suggesting it jeopardized public well-being.

As of late April 2025, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) recorded over 38,600 deaths and more than 1.6 million adverse events associated with Covid-19 vaccinations. The report indicates that about a quarter of those deaths occurred within days of vaccination, which is notably high compared to historical data regarding other vaccines.

Johnson’s report ultimately calls for transparency regarding the Biden administration’s actions—or lack thereof—about vaccine adverse events. He emphasized the need for full disclosure of health data derived from taxpayer-funded initiatives, mentioning that these documents should be readily available to the public.
