Heat,Pelicans get into nasty brawl, Naji Marshall grabs Jimmy Butler’s neck

The Smoothie King Center was in chaos Friday night.

Early in the fourth quarter in New Orleans, the Heat and Pelicans got into an all-out brawl, with Naji Marshall and Jimmy Butler appearing to be at the center of the brawl, resulting in a brutal scene.

It all started with just over 11 minutes left in the quarter when Pelicans star Zion Williamson went up and missed a shot because he thought he was fouled.

But after Butler rebounded the ball, Williamson stole the ball back into the paint and took a shot at the net, only to be fouled hard by Kevin Love.

At that time, Marshall came over and appeared to push Love a little, which provoked Butler, who in turn pushed Marshall away.

The Pelicans small forward took exception to this and grabbed Butler by the neck. And that’s when things really got out of hand with a moving scrum, and multiple players and coaches from both teams gathered on center court to try to quell a situation that was already over the edge. A scene of trials.

Both teams came close on at least two occasions in tense situations, but were eventually separated and returned to the bench.
