“When the evidence was gathered, and this happened soon — it would be handed over to the DOJ and people would be charged,” Heggs said. “The Leak knows who he is, the truth is told and we stand behind it.”

Three other officials fired on suspicion of leaks — Dan Caldwell, Colin Carroll and Darrin Sernick — issued a joint statement expressing disappointment at the Department of Defense on Saturday, but also maintained support for Trump and his administration.

They or others nearby were leaking parties. If I believe that is the case, I have a legal responsibility that they are no longer accessible and that the investigation will begin.”

“If you think you’re leaking to the press, that’s a real problem we take seriously at the Pentagon,” added Hegses. “I’m here to do one job for the President and the Americans. I’m securing the country, America first, peace through strength. There’s no time for leaks or hoax media.”
