Protests Erupt Following Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

A week after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, protests have emerged as leftist activists express their outrage. The response to Kirk’s tragic death has drawn significant criticism. While some individuals face repercussions for their responses, troubling reactions from the left continue to surface across the nation.

In a viral video that surfaced Tuesday, an activist from the University of North Carolina Wilmington captured footage of paint being thrown over the Kirk Memorial located on Campus Boulder.

During the protest, one of the participants declared, “You destroy anything you don’t agree with, so he was shot,” capturing the sentiment of some present.

It appears unclear what religion, if any, the young woman claiming to be religious identifies with, yet she emphasized the idea of judgment. She noted, “It’s not my right to judge, but it’s not my right, or yours either,” as she gestured towards onlookers.

Before the vandalism, the rocks bore the American flag along with Kirk’s portrait and inspiring quotes, one reading, “If you believe in something, you need the courage to fight for those ideas. You don’t try to escape or silence them.” The memorial, honoring Kirk from 1993–2025, echoed a sentiment of resilience.

Following the act of vandalism, Boulder was nearly entirely coated in a sky-blue paint, effectively blotting out Kirk’s image. Ironically, the graffiti revealed the phrase “or let’s silence” at the bottom of the boulder.

Again, one protestor articulated that, “You destroy things you don’t agree with, so that’s why he was shot.”

When contacted, the dean’s office at UNCW stated that the situation is “under review.” However, a follow-up email did not yield an official statement.
