‘Heroin And A Face Mask’: Reality Star Shares Bizarre Definition Of ‘Sobriety’ In Hollywood

“Real Housewives of New York City” star Bethenny Frankel shed light on Hollywood’s wonky perception of the term “sobriety,” and it may catch you off guard.

The famous reality star and entrepreneur explained that “sobriety” often means very different things to celebrities. Speaking on the Jan. 10 episode of her “Just B” podcast, Frankel said she has been cutting down on her drinking.

However, she has noticed that for some people, “modern sobriety” means they’re dropping the booze — but indulging in other substances. She went on a rant about what she’s noticed some “sober” people doing and described it by saying, “Like, ‘I wanna just get a bag of cocaine but not drink alcohol.”

Frankel made reference to the term “California sober,” a term that was made famous by Demi Lovato when she declared she was sober with the exception of soft drugs, such as marijuana and alcohol. She referred to it as a trend where people “wanna do edibles, and they wanna smoke pot,” as they journey toward their own version of sobriety.

“I don’t wanna displace [alcohol] with another thing!” Frankel said on the podcast.

“I know people who, like, do crazy shit!” she continued.

“It’s like, ‘Let’s do heroin and get a facial mask and drink water.’ And I’m not even kidding,” Frankel said.

“So to just be sober … you need other things,” she added.

As for her own experience, Frankel said laying off the booze has been really great for her. (RELATED: ‘Drunk Out Of My Skull’: Anthony Hopkins Makes Startling Revelation About His Past Addiction)

“You start to really start feeling healthier and lighter and your eyes whiter and sleeping better after a certain period of time … You’re not staying out late doing stupid things,” she said.
