Former Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer expressed his frustration on Friday regarding allegations that President Joe Biden had defeated Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Biden recently referenced the narrow margin from 2020 and the competitive nature of swing states during an appearance. On his podcast, “Pod Save America,” Pfeiffer criticized Biden’s belief in this victory, suggesting it undermines Vice President Kamala Harris, who is now running as the Democratic candidate for 2024. “What really bothers me is Biden’s stance. Sure, it’s about pride, but claiming he thinks he won is just… aggravating,” Pfeiffer remarked. “It feels politically insane to me.”
“It’s like he’s not in touch with reality. Even if he believes it, vocalizing that sentiment seems disrespectful to Harris, who is put in a tough spot because of it,” he added.
Despite the heated debate involving Trump on June 27, Biden didn’t drop Harris from the race until July 21. “Considering what she faced as Vice President, that time frame was just too long,” Pfeiffer noted. “If he had handled that differently, he might have respected her position more. There’s a world where she could still be the Vice President, but losing as a candidate changes everything, and that’s really frustrating.”
In November, Trump prevailed over Harris, winning the popular vote across all seven swing states. During his appearance on “The View,” Biden mentioned that he wasn’t shocked by Harris’ loss, attributing it in part to sexism. “I was not surprised, not because she isn’t qualified—she absolutely is. I anticipated that they would go the sexist route,” he stated.
Biden also refuted claims about any cognitive decline during a recent interview, but he seemed to stumble over his words, mentioning Jill Biden in an unrelated context. Pfeiffer, speaking on his podcast, noted he had concerns about Biden’s cognitive state as early as April 2024. “I attended a reception at the White House, and honestly, he seemed off. He repeated the same story twice and looked quite old. I worried he might not be able to handle another four years,” he said.
