The social media influencer known for hiking and spiritual insights was discovered deceased near an Arizona trailhead after being reported missing. Authorities found 31-year-old Hannah Moody’s body at the Scottsdale Reserve around noon Thursday, about 600 yards from the trail where she had last been seen.
Moody, a seasoned hiker, was admired for her uplifting life messages. Her friend reported her absence at 7:50 PM on Wednesday, as they hadn’t been in contact. It seems she had gone hiking alone.
Her car remained parked at the Gateway Trailhead in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, prompting a search operation by the police. Drones and helicopters were deployed, but the search was called off late Wednesday. Fortunately, it was resumed the next morning, leading to the discovery of Moody’s body by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Air Unit.
This outcome is quite tragic, marking a heart-wrenching moment in the ongoing search for hikers. Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding her death but noted there’s no initial evidence of foul play or trauma. The medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.
Earlier in the week, Moody shared a video during a hike, expressing gratitude for having a new daytime restaurant job. Initially worried about reduced income, she reflected positively on how this change allowed for sunset hikes. In her upbeat manner, she emphasized the potential for good in any challenge and closed the video appreciating the beautiful views.
On Instagram, she mentioned preparing for her hike, noting that she had ample water. Described by friends as someone with a deep love for nature, Moody was known for being well-prepared and regularly venturing outdoors. Her brother highlighted her adventurous spirit, portraying her as a “free spirit” who was constantly on the move, seeking a place to belong.
Despite the somber conclusion of her story, her friends remember her warmth and passion for nature, emphasizing how much she truly lived for the outdoors.
