Hillary Clinton has insisted that Vice President Kamala Harris does not need to take policy positions in interviews, saying the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate faces a “double standard” from voters and the media.
“She doesn't have to do that, Kara. I'm just going to get straight to the point,” Clinton told journalist and podcast host Kara Swisher. On this week's “On with Kara Swisher” podcast.
“Harris actually has policies on her campaign website. Anyone who's really interested can read them. She mentioned policies. She doesn't just have policies or concepts. She has a plan for what to do,” Clinton said, referring to the policy page that Harris added to her campaign website earlier this month.
“It's, you know, I think it's a double standard. It's a double standard partly because they're still getting to know her, but also because they're still wrestling with the idea of, 'Oh my God, am I really going to elect a woman to be president and commander in chief?'” she continued.

In a separate interview with a left-leaning host this week, Clinton further criticized media coverage of both candidates.
“The media still hasn't covered Trump the way it should,” Clinton told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow during an appearance on the show.
“They're just going on and on about exposé… I don't understand why it's so hard for the media to have a consistent story about how dangerous Trump is. You know, the late great journalist Harry Evans once said that journalists should really strive to achieve objectivity. In other words, he said they should report on the subject. And the subject in this case is Donald Trump“His sedition is a danger to our country and the world, and I will stick to it,” she continued.
Her comments came shortly after a second assassination attempt on the former president.
