How will Arizona vote in 2024?
FOX News senior correspondent Alicia Acuña will be reporting on what is expected to be a close race in the battleground state of Arizona in a “special report.”
Former Secretary of State and two-time unsuccessful Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton entered the race Thursday in what is expected to be one of the year’s most closely watched Senate races that could determine the balance of power in Congress.
In an early morning post about X, Clinton expressed support for Arizona Congressman Ruben Gallego. He is a Phoenix-area lawmaker and likely Democratic candidate in the race, praising him as a “warrior” for the “right” to abortion.
Gallego welcomed the endorsement and said in a statement that he was “proud” to have Clinton’s support.

“She has long been a leading advocate for social justice, a tireless fighter for women’s rights, and a dedicated public servant who has worked for the betterment of our country for decades. Now, we Now more than ever, we need to stand up against the extremism that threatens Arizonans, protects abortion rights, protects our democracy, and works to build a better future for families in every corner of our state.” Gallego said.
Gallego’s likely rival, former local news anchor and conservative flame-monger Kari Lake, teased her support in an X post of her own.
”[Hillary Clinton] I’m doing my best [Ruben Gallego]. I’m not surprised. they have a lot in common. Reuben and Hillary have spent their careers deceiving hardworking Americans and lining their own pockets at your expense. I am running with you and your family first,” she wrote.

Gallego on Thursday welcomed a second endorsement from the progressive veterans group Common Defense, which praised President Biden’s signature support for anti-inflation legislation and support for abortion.
Democrats currently hold a narrow 51-49 majority in the Senate, with independents Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vermont), Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Arizona), and Sen. Angus King (Maine). I am supported. Sinema announced this month that he would not seek re-election.
A recent poll of Arizona voters shows that while a hypothetical race between Gallego and Lake is close, former President Trump has a slight advantage over President Biden. This is a factor that could have a major impact on the Senate race.

Arizona’s Senate race is one of many states Republicans see as an opportunity to flip in their favor, including West Virginia, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
