Six people have been arrested and are now facing gang assault charges in connection with a stabbing that took place this week after a graduation ceremony at Hofstra University charter school on New York’s Long Island.
Nassau County Police said five people were taken into custody following Wednesday’s incident, which took place just after a ceremony at Uniondale Charter School: Isaiah Moore, 19, Devon Moore, 19, Tywan Jackson, 23, Unique Pruitt, 21, Devon Fenner, 18, and Zachariah Fulton, 19, all of Hempstead, New York.
“Detectives say officers from the Third Precinct were dispatched to the 1000 block of Hempstead Turnpike for an assault,” police said in a statement. “Upon arrival on scene, they discovered two male victims had been involved in an altercation. The argument escalated, resulting in one victim receiving a slash to the back of his left thigh and the other receiving a slash to his right ear.”
FOX 5 New York reported that sources confirmed the attack, which involved a masked suspect, was targeted.

Sources told the station that masked men attacked adult guests outside the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibit Complex at Hofstra University in Hempstead shortly after the ceremony ended just after 4 p.m.
One adult was slashed in the leg and one graduate was slashed in the ear, the station reported.
Officials at Academy Charter High School said the attack appears to be related to a domestic dispute.

“All students who entered the graduation ceremony passed through a magnetometer,” Academy Charter High School said in a statement. “We emphasize that this incident occurred outside of the graduation venue. Our school security team is working with Nassau County Police and Hofstra Public Safety.”
Both victims were transported to a medical facility and are expected to survive, according to FOX 5.
According to Nassau County police, each of the six arrested was charged with attempted gang assault, assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.

They were expected to be arraigned in court on Thursday.
