Many stars who were surprised by the red carpet during the 2025 awards season showed off a visibly slimmer figure.
Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman and Mindy Karin are among the stars who showed off their slim figures at some of the biggest events leading up to Sunday's 97th Academy Awards ceremony.
While some celebrities have praised popular weight loss pills for their physical transformations, Dr. Jason Emmer, a cosmetic dermatologist at Beverly Hills, told Fox News Digital that it fuels the thin epidemic where many variables are wiping out the industry.
“The red carpet has had a noticeable trend towards slimmer appearances, which can be attributed to a combination of factors such as social media impact, changing beauty standards, and accessibility of weight loss medications,” Emer said.

“In addition, advances in aesthetic procedures, with a focus on health and fitness, could also contribute to these trends,” he added.
Oprah Winfrey, Sharon Osborne and Rosie O'Donnell admit that they are using weight loss medication: “Embarrassing”
Many celebrities spoke about the pressure they experienced while trying to conform to the thin body trends dominated in the 1990s and early 2000s. Moore, who became the highest-paid actress in history in the mid-90s, revealed in her 2019 memoir, “Inside Out,” that she fought eating disorders at the pinnacle of fame.
“I didn't think I could stop exercising,” Moore wrote. “It was my job to fit the relentless military uniform I wear in two months. [1992’s] “Several Good People.” I got fit for that film and became obsessed with workouts that consume me over the next five years. I dared not give up. ”
The slimming trend has continued for the next decade, with the rise of a new generation of stars, including Taylor Swift, Hilary Duff and Demi Lovato.

However, the mid-2010s saw an era of more inclusive body positives. Some of the movement's most vocal celebrity champions include Kaling, Lovato, Selena Gomez, Ashley Graham and Lizzo.
In 2020, Kaling shared a body-positive message on Instagram. “You need to hear this, but if you want to wear a bikini, you don't have to be size 0.”

However, Dr. David Amron, founder and medical director of the Roxbury Institute, expressed concern that the trend has changed again.
“The pendulum looks back towards an age of dangerous thinness fueled by the relentless spotlight for the unrealistic beauty of social media,” he told Fox News Digital.

“After more than a decade of positive advances in the body, we are witnessing the revival of impossible standards, putting pressure on people of all shapes and sizes to reduce at any cost,” Amron continued. “What's even more troublesome is that many people are turning to extreme, unproven methods without medical supervision, putting their lives at risk, not just their health.”
The slimming trend has revived over the past few years, and the use of Ozempic and other injectable GLP-1 drugs for weight loss has skyrocketed.
GLP-1 drugs, including Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro, are primarily useful in managing blood glucose (glucose) levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Wegovy is also approved by the FDA to treat obesity, but other similar drugs are increasingly prescribed off-label for weight loss.
In 2022, Kaling sparked rumors that she was using Ozempic after being reportedly losing 40 pounds. However, the “office” alumni explained that her trim physique was due to lifestyle changes, including adopting a regular fitness routine and using potion controls.

However, many other stars, including Kathy Bates, Oprah Winfrey, Sharon Osborne, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Rosie O'Donnell, Josh Gadd and Tracy Morgan, have admitted to trying Ozenpook and other weight loss pills.
During the interview in October People Magazine, Bates revealed that she is using Ozempic, but revealed that weight loss pills are just one factor in her overall body transformation.
“There was a noticeable trend in the red carpet for slimmer appearance, which could be attributed to a combination of factors such as social media impact, changing beauty standards, and accessibility of weight loss medications.”

The Academy Award winner, who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2017, has flushed £100 in the seven years since he changed his diet and committed to a regular fitness routine.
Bates said he lost 80 pounds while talking to people before using the Ozempic, which helped him to shed another 20 pounds.
“There were a lot of stories of how we could do this for the Ozempic,” Bates said. “But I have to impress the people there that this is a tough job for me, especially during the pandemic. It's very difficult to say you have enough.”

Some Ozempic users claim that the drug has resulted in facial changes that make them look old.
To combat the possibility of “Ozempic Face,” Emer recommended that patients take the drug microdoses along with hormone regulation and supplements. Emer recently debuted his own supplement, Vitasculpt. This helps the body recover, reduces pain and inflammation, and helps maintain weight.

Meanwhile, anti-aging expert Dr. Michael Aziz told Fox News Digital that the slimmer Hollywood trends will come when the stigma around popular weight loss pills decreases.
“Oprah Winfrey, Sharon Osborne, Whoopi Goldberg and Elon Musk are all reportedly taking GLP-1 medications,” he said. “We once surrounded GLP-1 drugs, but secrets, shame, and stigma are beginning to change as more people board.”
Some celebrities, including Osborne, have spoken about experiencing serious side effects while taking weight loss medication.
When she appeared on Talk TV's “Piers Morgan Uncensored” in September 2023, Osboune explained her experience Take Ozempic He then warned others not to use the medicine.
“It's nauseous at first,” she told Morgan. “You don't throw it physically, but you have that feeling. I've been feeling nauseous for a couple of weeks. You're very thirsty and don't want to eat. That's it.”

“So I keep saying, you have to keep these things away from the younger people, because they're going to be savage on it and it's not right,” the British native added.
In November 2023, Osborne said Daily Mail She stopped taking Ozempic but was unable to gain weight.
“You can lose so much weight and it's easy to get hooked on it. It's very dangerous. I can't stop losing weight and now I've lost 42 pounds and I can't afford to lose anymore,” she said.

However, many celebrities praise drugs, including Winfrey. Weight loss medication.
“I've noticed over the last few years I've been blaming myself for being overweight, and there's a predisposition to the amount of willpower not being controlled. Obesity is a disease. It's not about the will — it's about the brain.” People Magazine 2023.
“The fact that I have a medically approved prescription to manage my weight and stay healthier is not something I'd ever feel like a red, gift-like relief in my lifetime, hiding behind me and being ridiculed again,” Winfrey said. “I absolutely finished with embarrassment from others, especially myself.”
Emer told Fox News Digital that his patients have experienced significant health benefits from taking GLP-1 and believe their use will continue despite changes in Hollywood trends.
“It's possible that some celebrities are using these drugs to achieve a specific look for public events such as award shows and premieres. The pressure to maintain a specific look in the entertainment industry allows you to look for quick and effective solutions for weight management, especially before the appearance of the red carpet,” he said.
“But my clients use this to make them live longer, look healthier and at their best. They notice better results at the gym, and with proper skin care and laser treatment plans, this drug heals faster and looks better due to a lower inflammation rate in the body.”
