HBO House of the Dragon Season 1 has begun game of thrones Fans will get to learn more about the complicated, messy, and incestuous relationships of House Targaryen. But there was one royal couple who defied all the rules and quickly became fan favorites: Princess Rhaenys “Never Queen” Targaryen (Eve Best) and Lord Corlys “The Sea Serpent” Velaryon (Steve Toussaint). House of the Dragon Audiences were enthralled with their mature, loving, non-incestuous romance. Their chemistry was cunning and sexy, and theirs was a true partnership built on love. Corlys’s rise to adventure seemed to suit the clever and confident Rhaenys. It seemed to frustrate Corlys to no end that Rhaenys missed out on the Iron Throne because she was a woman – not just because his own lofty ambitions were unrealized, but because he truly felt that Rhaenys was not only worthy of the position, but also best suited to defend the kingdom.
So, fans are going crazy over Corlys Velaryon marrying Rhaenys Targaryen, but how did that happen in the first place? House of the DragonHouse Targaryen does not typically marry for love; their marriages are brokered as political agreements or to ensure the purity of the magical Valyrian bloodline. Sure, Corlys Velaryon eventually became the richest man in the kingdom and was of Valyrian blood, but wouldn’t Rhaenys’ parents have wanted her to marry a brother, cousin, or uncle? How did this love marriage come about?
During a recent in-person roundtable discussion House of the Dragon When Decider asked stars Steve Toussaint and Eve Best if they’d ever imagined a “meet cute” moment between Corlys and Rhaenys, they immediately went to work setting the scene for a lavish party likely held at the home of her parents, Prince Aemon Targaryen and his wife, Lady Jocelyn Baratheon…
“I think they were at a big ball, a big ball at Rhaenys’ family mansion. Shaken this manBest said dramatically, causing everyone to erupt in laughter, “Wherever he is in the Caribbean, he’s just finished his latest adventure.” hair was All wild.“
Steve Toussaint grinned and kept nodding “yes” with each new detail Best presented.
“I think she was being married off. Her parents were trying to get her married off. She was very high up in the ranks. [society]“And then you have this type of rock star,” Best says. Beach Bum compared to-“
Toussaint, in his laid-back surfer accent, waved and said, “Hey, guys!”

“He came from nothing,” Best said. “He really [man] And the other guys that Rainey introduced me to seemed like they were all uptight, hopeless, wayward, mean, rich boys. Entitled, aristocratic people. And…”
“And then he comes in,” Toussaint said.
“And there’s no competition,” Best said.
“Yes, that’s true, I think he went there with his brother or a friend, and he said, “I’m not sure what to do.Oh, she“…I want her,” Toussaint’s tone emphasized that Korilz had his eye on Rhaenys immediately, “and his friend or brother said, “No, she’s out of your class! Best then took over the story, imagining Coreys coming up to Rainey’s on the dance floor in person and the pair hitting it off instantly and having a wild time.

Despite this dramatic start to Corliss and Rhaenys’ romance, Toussaint warned at a journalists’ roundtable that the couple’s decades-long marriage could be in trouble. House of the Dragon Season 2.
“Small cracks are showing. All is not well in paradise, but I don’t think all is lost,” Toussaint said in response to a question. Deven McClure of Screen Rant“That can be fixed, especially if Corliss is prepared to put in the work — what he usually does is say, ‘Oh, I’m getting too emotional now. I’m jumping ship now. See you in six years, by which time everyone will have forgotten what it was about.’
“But when we met him, he couldn’t [in Season 2]This time he is injured. His boat is being repaired, so he is forced to stay in the room and have the conversation.”
What does that conversation mean? Fans will just have to wait patiently. House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere on June 16th at 9pm ET on HBO and Max.
At the very least, the ball will continue forever…and the “passionate lovemaking in the forest.”
