Houthis fire missile at Israel even with cease-fire in place with the US

A Yemeni militant group fired ballistic missiles towards Israel on Friday morning, continuing their threats against the country despite a recent ceasefire agreement with the U.S.

Alarms sounded across central and southern Israel as the military monitored the incoming missiles. Fortunately, the Iron Dome defense system intercepted them before they could strike, according to officials.

No injuries were reported, as noted by local sources.

This incident followed a previous missile launch on Sunday, which reached near Israel’s main international airport after the Air Force failed to intercept it, resulting in at least eight injuries.

On Tuesday, President Trump announced a U.S. decision to halt a week-long bombing campaign against the Houthis.

Some Israeli officials have expressed skepticism about the group’s commitment to the agreement, suggesting it might not hold for long.

The Houthis’ agreement did not include any stipulations to prevent attacks on Israel, an ally of the U.S. Additionally, Israeli officials were not briefed about the deal before it was announced.

Some U.S. lawmakers who support Israel criticized the arrangement, with Israeli Ambassador Mike Huckabee stating that the U.S. doesn’t need Israel’s permission to reach any agreements regarding military actions.

Despite these tensions, Huckabee emphasized that the U.S. continues to back Israel. He mentioned in a conversation with the President and Vice President that any actions by the Houthis that threaten Americans would concern the U.S. as well.
