High-Speed Chase Involving Stolen Corvette

Early Saturday morning, around 12:30 a.m., deputies from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office observed a black sports car performing donuts at the intersection of South 112th Street and Pacific Avenue South. This intersection is located in Parkland, approximately 20 minutes south of Tacoma.

Upon noticing the car, the officers approached, but the driver quickly sped away, according to official reports.

When deputies knocked on the door of a nearby residence, a man emerged, asserting that his friend had left the Corvette there and that he was unaware of any situation regarding it. However, upon further investigation, officers learned that the man had a social media account showcasing videos of him driving a stolen Corvette and engaging in reckless maneuvers.

The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop; nonetheless, the car evaded the police. The lieutenant communicated the direction of the fleeing vehicle, but a responding sergeant, despite picking up the chase, ultimately lost sight of it.

Notably, the sergeant later discovered that the Corvette was reported stolen and had been involved in similar incidents across various jurisdictions, though attempts to apprehend the vehicle previously had been unsuccessful.

An hour later, another deputy spotted a black Corvette that matched the description of the vehicle that had earlier escaped. Soon after, it was confirmed that the car was indeed the same stolen vehicle.

Deputies arrested a 21-year-old man on multiple charges, including fleeing from law enforcement and possession of a stolen vehicle. Additionally, he had outstanding warrants for reckless driving and excessive speeding across different regions.

In a rather ironic twist, a sheriff’s deputy humorously suggested it might not be wise to record oneself executing donuts in a stolen car for social media.
