On Wednesday, Indian forces targeted the headquarters of banned groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in missile strikes aimed at terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This military action, part of “Operation Sindoor,” is a response to terrorist attacks in Pahargam and has garnered significant international media attention.
The escalation reflects a broader conflict between the two nuclear-capable nations, with many global publications portraying India’s actions as calibrated counterterrorism measures rather than outright aggression. This issue has prominently featured in various US media outlets.
In American media, the New York Times headlined, “After the attack on Kashmir, India launches missile strikes within Pakistan,” emphasizing the operation as a “major escalation” and noting India’s prior notification to the US, aiming to minimize international tension.
CNN highlighted the narrative of “India and Pakistan on the brink of wider conflict,” discussing India’s deployment of advanced weaponry like Rafale fighters and Scalp cruise missiles, asserting that the strikes targeted terrorist infrastructure over military sites.
The Washington Post described the situation with the headline “Tensions rise as India strikes Pakistan, and Islamabad vows to respond,” acknowledging India’s careful choice to avoid military targets and limit civilian casualties.
The BBC reported that the strikes focused on significant targets such as the Bahawalpur and Malidke terror hubs, reflecting global concerns about potential escalation.

India’s actions against Pakistan
India communicated on Wednesday that its military actions were focused, measured, and intentional, clarifying that no Pakistan military facilities were targeted. This response comes two weeks after a terrorist attack in Pahargam that resulted in 26 fatalities.
“Earlier, the Indian forces initiated ‘Operation Sindoor’ to target terrorists in Pakistani-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, attacking the infrastructure from which terrorist operations against India were planned,” stated a Ministry of Defense release at 1:44 am.
“India has shown significant restraint in selecting and executing its targets,” the statement read.
