How under-the-radar Yankees import could raise Mets’ ceiling

Port St. Lucy – The Mets added a new position to their coaching staff this winter and hired Digidolshell as their team's assistant pitching coach. Druschel previously worked in the same job as the Yankees. There he was familiar with Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, a former Bronx bench coach.

Druschel, 49, has an extensive college coaching background. I believe this is an understanding of the technology used to improve pitchers. Dolschel, who works for pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, spoke to Postsports+ this week about his new job and what he wants to achieve with the Mets.

NYP: Who was in charge of bringing you to the Mets?

DD: There are several contact details here. Obviously Mendy, as someone I worked with, and Eric Jagers, director of pitching development, coached him in college. [at Iowa]. know [bullpen coach] Josero Sado of the Yankees. There were a few people here and I don't know there's always one.
