Huckabee tours Gaza, criticizes Hamas for stealing aid supplies

Israeli Officials Visit Gaza Amid Aid Dispute

Israeli Ambassador Mike Huckabee and special envoy Steve Witkov recently visited the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) amid ongoing disputes over aid distribution in the region.

“I visited Gaza today and observed a humanitarian food program launched by the U.S. through GHF. Hamas opposes GHF because it delivers food to people, which they end up plundering,” Huckabee stated. He added that they plan to provide meals for over 100 million people within two months. In another post, he described GHF’s work as “an incredible feat.”

During their visit, Huckabee and Witkov held meetings with Israeli officials to discuss the humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Their goal was to assess the situation on the ground and devise a strategy for delivering food and medical aid to the population. Witkov emphasized that they spent over five hours in Gaza to obtain a clearer understanding of the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The GHF labeled it a privilege to showcase their operations to officials from the Trump administration as they proudly reported serving 100 million meals.

Huckabee highlighted during a conversation with Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade that the GHF food program is effective. However, he noted that the situation on the ground is somewhat confusing, largely due to the actions of Hamas. He dismissed allegations related to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) randomly harming Palestinians, asserting that there’s evidence of Hamas stealing aid. He emphasized that such incidents were never random, expressing frustration at the narrative.

He described witnessing trucks being plundered and cited disturbing examples of food being sold on the black market at extraordinarily high prices; for instance, a 4-kilogram bag of sugar could fetch up to $200.

Huckabee argued that much of the humanitarian aid reaching Gaza has, unfortunately, been appropriated by Hamas and other local factions. This has resulted in skyrocketing prices for essential goods. He criticized international organizations, suggesting they focus more on genuine humanitarian work rather than merely appearing to help.

The GHF’s role became crucial after the U.N. expressed concerns about its safety and readiness for food distribution. Despite the criticism, GHF emphasized the significant number of meals they have managed to deliver as a noteworthy success.

Recent tensions arose within the Trump administration over its messaging about Gaza. President Trump, speaking in Scotland, announced plans for a new food center in Gaza, indicating a shift in approach that diverged from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stance. While Trump expressed sympathy for the plight of the people in Gaza, Netanyahu firmly rejected any notions of a hunger crisis, asserting their focus on achieving military objectives.

As the situation evolves, officials like Huckabee and Witkov continue to seek pathways for effective aid delivery amidst complex geopolitical dynamics.
