Discovery of Children’s Remains in Memphis
Authorities in Tennessee reported the tragic discovery of the bodies of three young children, following the accidental find of human skulls in a Memphis wooded area last month.
The investigation commenced on March 8 when an anonymous individual alerted police to a human skull located near a wooded site in Hickory Hill, a neighborhood in southwest Memphis.
Officers responded by locating the skull at the edge of the woods and conducted a thorough search in the vicinity over several days, employing cadaver dogs. These dogs indicated a nearby drain, hinting there could be more remains present.
On April 1, investigators uncovered additional skulls while examining the drainage system. The following day, search teams found 14 more bones that appeared to be human remains, as noted by police.
An initial coroner’s assessment confirmed that the remains belonged to three children aged between 3 and 7.
During a press conference, Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis stated, “Our goal today is to conduct a thorough and methodical search of the area for additional evidence that will help identify the deceased.”
Authorities are still working to determine the identities and cause of death of the children.
“This information is incredibly difficult and concerning for all of us,” Davis added, assuring the public that there is currently no indication of an ongoing threat.
“Someone must know where these children came from. Someone knows about the missing kids we’ve found in this area. It’s heartbreaking and disturbing,” she remarked.
Approximately 170 agents, including personnel from the FBI and other federal agencies, are actively participating in the investigation at the crime scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the police.
