Erika Kirk Honors Late Husband at Memorial Service

Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point, shared a heartfelt message during his memorial service attended by thousands at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on September 21, 2025. She expressed that Charlie’s “greatest cause” in life was centered around the mission of “reviving the American family.”

As she walked onto the stage, visibly emotional, the crowd erupted in cheers for her. Her voice trembled as she recounted the tragic events of September 10 when her husband was fatally shot on the Utah Valley University campus. The moment she received the news, she rushed to the hospital. Upon identifying Charlie’s body, she felt an overwhelming mix of “shock,” “horror,” and a depth of “heartache” she hadn’t known existed.

Yet, amidst her grief, she noticed “a faint smile” on his lips that brought her solace, a whisper of peace in a moment of profound sorrow. “One moment Charlie was doing what he loved… and then he blinked, and saw his savior in paradise,” she reflected.

The following day, Erika was supported by friends, including Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance, who accompanied her on Air Force Two to bring Charlie’s body back to Arizona. Holding hands with Usha, she admitted her uncertainty about coping with the loss, sharing, “Honestly, I do not know how I am going to get through this.”

Erika recalled Usha comparing her situation to the last chaotic moments of a flight with kids – how challenging it gets, yet how it eventually culminates in a safe landing. “You will get through these 15 minutes, and the next 15 minutes after that,” Usha told her. Erika revealed how those words became a source of strength for her during such a dark time.

In her address, she noted that after her husband’s death, there was no civil unrest, a reality that would have filled Charlie with pride. “We didn’t see violence or rioting. Instead, we witnessed what my husband always hoped for—a revival in this country,” she expressed.

Despite Charlie leaving this world with some work incomplete, Erika emphasized that he didn’t depart with “unfinished business.” She called for men everywhere to take on Charlie’s challenge to embody true manhood by loving and standing by their families.

“He always encouraged young people to embrace God’s vision for marriage, insisting that it could enrich each part of their lives, just as it did ours,” Erika said, adding personal anecdotes that highlighted their close bond. In a poignant moment, she revealed that Charlie wanted to help young men, even the one who ended his life.

With calm resolve, she shared her decision to forgive Tyler Robinson, the suspect alleged to have taken Charlie’s life. “I forgive him because it is what Christ did. The answer to hate is not hate,” she stated.

Recently appointed as the CEO of Turning Point USA, Erika vowed to honor her husband’s legacy by announcing plans to establish many new chapters. “The world needs Turning Point USA. We need to guide young people away from turmoil and towards truth,” she stated determinedly.

Erika affirmed that Charlie’s commitment to campus events would endure, with the first gathering slated for later this month. “No assassin will ever stop us from defending our rights. When dialogue halts, violence occurs,” she cautioned.
