A Philadelphia woman who was having the best time in Naples, Italy, ended up getting a free extension on her dream trip thanks to airline overbooking.
Susan Berry, a 36-year-old photographer, was told that American Airlines had not only overbooked her return flight on August 4, but had also overbooked flights on the same route for the next two weeks.
Therefore, the AA needed volunteers on a daily basis to remain in Italy at the company’s expense.
“Before the manager had even finished speaking, I said, ‘Me! Me! Me! Can you please help me?'” she told Business Insider. She returns to the airport every day hoping to extend her trip.
Berry’s free holidays included thousands of dollars worth of four-star hotels, including the luxurious Grand Hotel Vanvitelli, private cars, lavish meals with Italian wine and free airfare.
She also bonded with the seven other passengers who were denied boarding, and shared the special moment on TikTok, describing the experience as: “Camp American Airlines”
Online, people were quick to encourage her to “make the most of the situation,” as she captioned the video.

She received a total of $3,550 for her airfare, in addition to accommodation, meals and local transportation.
Berry’s goal was to win $10,000 in free flights.
