Homeowner Confronts Burglars in NYC

Surveillance footage captured on January 19 at around 12:44 a.m. reveals a break-in at a residence in the Jamaica Estates area of Queens, New York. Reports indicate that the burglars were attempting to steal a keychain from an expensive car.

The homeowner, a licensed concealed carrier, was startled by the sudden intrusion. According to police, one of the robbers accessed the home through a window, shining a flashlight around the kitchen with a cellphone.

In a tense moment, the homeowner shouted, “I’ve got a gun, don’t move!” to the intruder. However, luck was not on his side when the gun unexpectedly malfunctioned.

“When I pull the trigger, the gun doesn’t work,” he recounted. “Whatever divine intervention is, the gun won’t fire.” Fortunately for him, the burglars were unaware of the malfunction. The suspects quickly fled through the same window they entered, joined by their accomplices.

The homeowner noted that both of his cars were parked in the driveway, and as he approached the house, the lights activated, making it clear someone was home. Still, the burglars proceeded, which was especially unsettling considering it was a night when they hadn’t set their alarm.

Thankfully, his wife and children were also at home, but the thieves seemed intent on stealing a specific item—a keychain linked to his Bentley. The homeowner learned from detectives that his neighborhood had experienced a series of thefts; two other homes were targeted successfully, resulting in the loss of a Porsche and a Range Rover.

With a recent increase in robberies, tensions have risen among the local community, particularly among Jewish families observing yeshiva vacations. “If they want to come back, let them try. This time, the gun won’t jam,” he said. “I think everyone here feels like a target.”

Authorities are actively seeking three individuals linked to this incident.
