Vance Speaks at Memorial, Emphasizing Christianity in Politics
Vice President JD Vance addressed an audience at Charlie Kirk’s memorial, highlighting the importance of Christianity in political discourse. “In the last two weeks, I’ve talked about Jesus Christ more than I ever have in public,” he said, as attendees reacted positively.
Reflecting on his faith, Vance acknowledged his previous discomfort about being openly religious. He noted, “Charlie understood we are all children of God. He had a deep knowledge of the Bible, and that understanding influenced everything he did.”
He pointed out that a strong belief in the gospel allows individuals to approach differing opinions as a means to seek truth rather than seeing them as conflicts to win. Vance explained, “Charlie loved others—whether they were friends or foes—but he also felt the need to articulate right from wrong and recognize the truth.”
Vance continued, “Charlie embodied kindness, bravery, and a dedication to open dialogue. He recognized that discussions weren’t about mere arguments; they were about illuminating truth in dark times. Charlie Kirk represented numerous truths throughout his life.”
According to Vance, “Charlie believed young people deserved a voice and a role in society. He asserted that marriage and family were essential. He reminded us that our nation must maintain order and prosperity for its people. Charlie fought for life at all stages and believed in protecting it.”
Vance shared that Charlie was passionate about history and absorbed the ideas that shaped civilization. He praised Charlie for upholding the tradition of inquiry established by Socrates centuries ago, embodying both rational thought and spiritual values.
However, despite his love for history, Vance emphasized that America was truly Charlie’s home, one he symbolized his readiness to defend.
Vance remembered Charlie’s enthusiasm for America, expressing that anyone who conversed with him could feel that passion. He believed America was a place filled with remarkable ideas, but also recognized it as a responsibility passed down through generations. Vance stated that Charlie was optimistic about the country’s future, believing the best days were ahead.
However, Vance added that achieving those brighter days required effort. “We must labor, fight for truth, and sacrifice. Charlie understood that America wouldn’t be saved by just discussing ideas at seminars,” he remarked. “The movement he inspired called for more — it required courage and commitment.” He noted, “Charlie Kirk exemplified what it meant to lead.”
Concluding his address, Vance shared that the entire administration was present not only out of friendship for Charlie but also because they acknowledged his significant impact on the political landscape. “Charlie built an organization that changed the political dynamic, fostering connections among millions of young people,” he added.
Vance urged, “Charlie didn’t just talk about saving our country; he motivated us to take action together.” He also reflected on the negative reactions to Charlie’s passing, encouraging others to focus on the many advocates for his legacy fighting daily.
