Sean Ryan Responds to Joe Kent’s Resignation
Podcaster Sean Ryan expressed hope on Tuesday that the resignation of Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), might make people more aware of the situation regarding Iran.
Kent’s resignation was made public on Tuesday. In a post on X, he claimed that Iran did not pose an “imminent threat” to the United States. Ryan described Kent’s departure as “unfortunate” during an interview, noting its potential impact. “Sometimes the most impactful statement is a strong resignation,” Ryan said, adding that he wished Kent well. He also encouraged others to take notice, suggesting that perhaps this could prompt some reflection.
In a subsequent post, Ryan cautioned against those who may seek to maintain power after Kent’s exit. “Beware others who are just lining up to maintain your position of power,” he stated.
Kent, a former Green Beret, had been confirmed as the NCTC director on July 30, which had been praised by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. She noted his extensive military service, which included over 20 years and 11 combat deployments, emphasizing his commitment to his country.
Interestingly, Kent’s personal background adds another layer to his profile: his first wife, Shannon Kent, was a US Navy Petty Officer who lost her life in a January 2019 attack attributed to ISIS in Syria.
In the wake of these developments, President Trump also announced Operation Epic Fury following a breakdown in negotiations with Iran.
