‘I took the president at his word’

California Governor Gavin Newsom says he is “disappointed” that President Biden has repeatedly lied about not pardoning his disgraced son Hunter, and is the most high-profile critic of the widely condemned move. He became one of the leading Democratic Party members.

“Given everything the president and his family have been through, the instinct to want to protect Hunter is completely understandable.” Newsom told Politico About Mr. Biden, 82 years old, who lost two children.

“But I took the president at his word,” Newsom said of the president's repeated promises not to intervene in his son's case.

This accusation is especially significant because of the fact that it has continued to do so.

Newsom is also one of the most important voices for the Democratic Party, and many expect him to run for the White House in 2028.

Biden has repeatedly vowed in public that he would not pardon his eldest son, 54, who was convicted in September on federal gun charges and federal tax evasion charges earlier this year.

But late Sunday, he issued a sweeping pardon, clearing Hunter of any wrongdoing over the past decade since he joined the controversial board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

He claimed that he took the extreme action because he believed that
