Increase in Attacks on ICE Agents
Assaults on Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have surged dramatically since January, coinciding with criticism from certain groups and politicians.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials have disclosed that ICE agents are experiencing close to a 700% rise in attacks during their attempts to detain undocumented individuals.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and others, including Boston Mayor Michelle Wu (D), Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), and California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), have made provocative remarks regarding ICE agents, with some even likening their actions to those of Nazis. Jeffries mentioned last month, “One of them will, of course, be identified no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes,” referring specifically to ICE agents.
Additionally, DHS officials report that groups associated with anti-fascist movements are increasingly targeted by ICE agents and their families.
“We will prosecute anyone who threatens ICE agents to the fullest extent of the law. These offenders align themselves with dangerous cartels and traffickers,” stated DHS Chief Christa Noem. “We will not tolerate this in America.”
A Portland-based organization, Rose City Counterinfo, has published the names, photos, and personal addresses of ICE agents, marking them as targets for left-wing activists.
In some neighborhoods, flyers have appeared displaying identifiable information alongside messages like “No Peace for ICE” and a Spanish slogan that translates to a derogatory phrase about the Immigration Service.
Recently, an individual in Texas was charged for ambushing an ICE agent at a detention center, with the Department of Justice now pursuing attempted murder charges against them.
In another instance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking a suspect who allegedly set fire to an ICE agent during an attack on a marijuana farm where immigrant children were reported to be working.
