ICE Operations Targeting Illegal Aliens in Massachusetts
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have initiated operations aimed at apprehending undocumented individuals in Massachusetts, as the Trump administration focuses on nationwide efforts to detain such persons.
A senior official from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mentioned that the operation, called NBC Boston’s Patriot 2.0, was reported on Saturday.
Previous initiatives, known as Operation Patriot, resulted in around 1,500 arrests in May. According to reports:
A spokesman from DHS, who did not specify details about the success of the initial operation, criticized Boston’s mayor, Michelle Wu, for her sanctuary policy, suggesting it favors undocumented criminals over law-abiding citizens.
“The policies adopted by Mayor Wu protect criminals while endangering public safety for American citizens. ICE is targeting sex offenders, murderers, drug dealers, and gang members released by local authorities,” the statement read.
According to Breitbart News, members of the Boston Police Department are reportedly expressing their discontent with Mayor Wu by discreetly sharing information to aid in the arrest of criminal enterprises.
One officer noted, “There are many in the Boston Police Department and other jurisdictions who want to collaborate with us and are assisting us behind the scenes.”
Breitbart News also reported in July that ICE apprehended approximately 30,000 undocumented individuals in June.
The article stated, “Thanks to the Trump administration, ICE is set to receive significant funding, with Congress approving a substantial bill that allocates $45 billion to increase detention capacity for undocumented immigrants and nearly $30 billion for ICE recruitment efforts.”
Additionally, the Trump administration has claimed success in diminishing cross-border smuggling of immigrant children and youth, uncovering that US-based undocumented individuals often finance smuggling operations. Breitbart News highlighted that these operations are frequently funded by earnings from jobs in the US.
