Iconic Bodybuilder Lenny Persin Dies At Age 60

Legendary bodybuilder Lenny Persin died at the age of 60.

“Big Lenny” had reportedly been suffering from congestive heart failure in the days leading up to his death. His death was first reported Thursday on YouTube by fellow bodybuilder Dave Palumbo, and he noted that the star had passed away.

“Big Lenny Persin is no longer with us. He passed over the last couple days, we’re not really sure exactly what day. He was suffering from congestive heart failure for quite some time now,” Palumbo said. Persin’s official cause of death has not been disclosed.

He went on to say paramedics had come to Big Lenny’s home prior to his passing.

Palumbo went on to pay tribute to his friend by sharing fond memories of the legacy he has left behind.

“Big Lenny was an icon in the sport,” Palumbo said.

“He carved out a unique niche for himself, leading a group of bodybuilders who went by the name the Delray Misfits. He was their fearless leader,” he continued.

Big Lenny was well-known for his eccentric appearance, his protruding stomach and his extroverted personality, according to Generation Iron. The famous bodybuilder suffered from palumboism, which has been tied to the usage of HGH and insulin, as well as additional factors, and causes difficulty contracting the abdominal muscles. As a result, he did not have the conventional bodybuilding appearance.

He was a fierce bodybuilding competitor, and last participated in the 2017 NPC Ruby Championships, where he secured the second spot, according to The Sun.

His extreme personality and unfiltered commentary, and non-traditional approach to bodybuilding made him a fan favorite, and now his fans are bidding their final farewell to the star on social media. (RELATED: Soccer Star George Baldock Found Dead In His Own Pool)
