The body discovered near the beach town of Westerly, Rhode Island, close to Taylor Swift’s mansion, has been identified by authorities, wrapping up the investigation.
This incident dates back to May 14, when the body washed ashore from Swift’s property in the affluent area known as Watchhill.
The South Kingstown Police have confirmed that the deceased is Eric Wine, a 31-year-old from Massachusetts, who was reported missing on April 18.
Records indicate Wine’s vehicle was in South Kingstown on April 10, prior to the missing report.
Police announced that the case was closed with no signs of foul play.
In a news release, they expressed their heartfelt condolences to Wine’s family during this challenging time.
This discovery comes a few weeks after another unidentified body was found in the Seekonk River in Pawtucket, which is roughly 48 miles away.
The local police chief addressed community concerns, previously assuring that there is no connection between this case and the series of body discoveries in New England. He emphasized that, as of now, there is no evidence to suggest a serial killer is involved.
On a broader note, speculation has circled New England after authorities uncovered thirteen bodies across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts since early March. The victims, whose ages ranged from 25 to 44 and were of various genders, have caused some alarm among residents.
Family members of one victim have publicly stated that they believe her death is unrelated to any serial killer activity.
As the investigation continues, confidence remains high that justice will be served, as some families call for an end to the rampant speculation in media and social networks.
