IDF Warns Lebanese Civilians to Leave Buildings Used by Hezbollah

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday warned civilians in southern Lebanon to evacuate homes and buildings used by the Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah to store weapons, citing imminent attacks.

IDF spokesman Maj. Gen. Daniel Hagari posted a video in English and Hebrew (with Arabic subtitles) explaining how Hezbollah stores missiles inside civilian buildings and how the IDF identifies and strikes those weapons.

Israel has so far stopped short of formally declaring war on Hezbollah. Asked whether the current escalation amounts to a Third Lebanon War, Israeli government spokesman David Mensah did not directly answer, instead pointing to the fact that Hezbollah sparked the conflict by attacking Israel with rockets unprovoked on October 8. Hezbollah has continued to shell Israelis, both soldiers and civilians, in the year since.

Israel has struck hundreds of locations in southern Lebanon in recent days, and Hezbollah has fired hundreds of rockets. Thanks to Israel's Iron Dome system, Hezbollah's rockets have not caused much damage, but some have hit Israeli civilian homes. said He said Monday that he and his family narrowly survived a direct attack on their home, avoiding death by following instructions from the Home Front Command to retreat to a fortified “safe room” and close the door.

Unlike Israel, Hezbollah has deliberately targeted civilians and fired indiscriminate unguided rockets, which can have deadly effects on civilians and are a war crime.
