If Israel Doesn’t Destroy Syrian Chemical Weapons, the World Should

On NewsNation's “Elizabeth Vargas Report” on Tuesday, Mike Huckabee, President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for ambassador to Israel, said he believes chemical weapons in Syria will never fall into the hands of the rebels currently occupying the country. He said it was impossible. Power and weapons “must be destroyed. If Israel won't do it, the rest of the world should join in and do the same.”

“We certainly have a vital national interest in what's happening in Syria,” Huckabee said at the outset, “but what we don't have is why we're in the middle of two wars.” [factions]neither of them are good people.

Host Elizabeth Vargas then asked, “So how concerned are you about Syria's chemical weapons falling into the hands of rebels?”

Huckabee replied: We all should be. And that's another reason to thank Israel for intervening and trying to destroy chemical weapons. I don't care who is in charge of Syria, and no one should have access to chemical weapons. They need to be destroyed, and if Israel won't do it, the rest of the world should join in and do the same. ”
