“The purpose of the United States is for you to assimilate into the culture of the United States,” says Dave Rubin.
“You don’t forget all your traditions. … You don’t forget where you come from. You don’t forget your family,” he says. “But it’s built into this beautiful thing that is America.”
But that concept is completely lost on Ilhan Omar, who has repeatedly expressed anti-American sentiments because of her Somali origin.
“The problem now is that progressives and elitists (like Omar) are telling us that this place is evil and racist and the founding of the country was terrible.” Because now we want to turn this country into the most difficult type of country ‘some of our ancestors had to flee,’ Dave explains.
In a recent speech in which Omar expressed support for Somalia in its territorial dispute with Somaliland, the Minnesota congressman said: She claimed that her real president is the President of Somalia.
“Let us give a warm welcome to our President, President of Somalia, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Minneapolis!” Omar declared to the cheering crowd.
“The president and I have a special relationship. I call him uncle and he calls me girlfriend. Welcome to your home. Our home is your home. …Hassan I am very happy to be our President. Somalia is our homeland. It is the homeland of all the people gathered here. It does not feel far away. Somalia is our heart. It is the homeland of all the people gathered here. It is in our hearts. We are always thinking about Somalia,” Omar continued.
This is not the only time Mr. Omar has boldly prioritized Somalia over the United States.
She recently made headlines for claiming, “It’s the job of Somalis in the United States to make the United States work for Somalia.”
“She’s a sitting congressman,” Dave sighs. As Mr. Omar repeatedly asserted in his speech, “I am convinced that America is our country,” not Somalia.
