A group of illegal immigrants was recently indicted after they allegedly assaulted NYPD officers as they tried to check on unsupervised children. Fox News Digital It was reported on Tuesday.
According to prosecutors, six suspects — Juan Munoz, 25, Alejandro Munoz, 42, Karina Navarro Chavez, 42, Miguel Chiruisa, 23, Christian Taipe, 30, and Natali Iza, 27 — have been charged with attempted first-degree assault, attempted first- and second-degree gang assault and other charges related to the attack.

of New York Post As previously reported, the attack occurred around 4:20 a.m. on June 17, when the group was outside a Queens hotel that had been converted into a shelter for undocumented immigrants. Two NYPD officers had gone to check on three children who were riding their bikes outside the shelter when the suspects surrounded the officers and began punching, kicking, and throwing objects.
Chiruisa was also charged with second- and third-degree escape. Both Chiruisa and Isa were charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
“At 4:20 a.m., two police officers investigating unaccompanied children were surrounded, punched and kicked by a group of adults outside a Long Island City hotel,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement.
“My office will aggressively prosecute those who harm members of law enforcement and hold suspects accountable for their actions,” Katz added.
Fox News Digital reported that Iza pushed and punched one of the officers who approached the children. Iza also reportedly hit an officer with a bicycle. Chiluisa is accused of throwing and hitting an officer with a child’s bicycle. Navarro-Chavez is accused of hitting an officer with an unidentified object.
After being handcuffed, Chiruisa allegedly tried to flee the scene and was arrested a short time later – police said one of the handcuffs had broken.
The two officers were treated at a nearby hospital for injuries including shoulder pain and abrasions.
