Illegal aliens’ attempted breach of military base was ‘dry run’ for future attack, says former staffer

“It’s a big part of what makes a gun a great weapon,” said Dave Katz, a former federal firearms instructor who worked at Marine Corps Base Quantico near Triangle, Virginia.Fox News Digital An attempt by two foreigners to break into the base earlier this month may have been a “dry run” for a future attack.

Katz, a former DEA agent and CEO and founder of Global Security Group, warned that a similar, but more dangerous, incident could happen again. “The box truck drive was a dry run for driving a box truck that will never be empty the second time,” he told Fox News Digital.

“Can I prove it? I can’t, but it’s the same as the 9/11 hijackers trying to board a plane with a box cutter on another occasion before they committed their crime,” he added.

“This would be the first terrorist attack on U.S. soil by someone who crossed the border illegally.”

Katz said the incident at the military base “represented a feasibility study” for the two Jordanian nationals who allegedly carried out the act.

On May 3, two men driving a box truck tried to enter the base but were stopped by security.Blaze News As previously reported, the men told security that they were contract drivers making an Amazon delivery, and after failing to provide proper identification, law enforcement instructed them to wait in a holding area so a secondary search could be conducted.

Captain Michael CurtisPotomac Local NewsAccording to local media, which first reported the incident, the men ignored guards’ orders and “attempted to move the vehicle to the other side of the detention centre”.

Authorities quickly activated vehicle barriers to prevent the box truck from entering, and Curtis reported that the two men were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who later determined that both were in the U.S. illegally.

One of the men had illegally entered California by crossing the southern border in April, while the other had been in the U.S. on an expired student visa.

Katz told Fox News Digital that she was skeptical of the men’s cover stories.

“Somehow a student who’s overstayed their visas comes into contact with someone who’s entered the United States illegally from the other side of the country, and they both end up in a truck,” Katz said. “There’s no way to explain what happened other than there’s something sinister about it.”

“Can anyone reasonably explain why two illegal immigrants from Jordan would be driving a box truck through a sensitive area, other than to rehearse for a future incident?” Katz continued. “If you can’t explain it, it has to do with terrorism.”

Fox News Digital reported that neither ICE nor the FBI responded to requests for comment.

The federal government has not released any evidence suggesting a terrorist motive, but the possibility has not been ruled out, Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies said recently.reportHe believes the incident was “the first ever cross-border terrorist attack.”

Recent”Daniel Horowitz, Conservative Review“If this is a terrorist attack on a very symbolic U.S. military base, as I strongly believe, this would be the first terrorist attack on U.S. soil by someone who has illegally crossed the border,” Bensman said.

Bensman told Horowitz that such an event is “very significant in an electoral sense.”

“The Biden administration has already failed so badly on this issue that they lost an election over the border crisis. Now, if you add in the impact of a terrorist attack — a national security terrorist attack — on our people, Donald Trump is obviously going to grab that like a sledgehammer and swing it around without rest. I don’t think Donald Trump knows this yet,” Bensman continued. “But even more important than the political aspect is the fact that they haven’t said this is not a terrorist attack, they haven’t ruled it out, they haven’t declared it to be a terrorist attack, and then it just goes away. So they’re choosing not to solve a major problem at the border.”
