Illinois Democrat claims Trump's reaction to LA riots is based on a 'fascist agenda'

Anti-ICE Protests and DACA’s 13th Anniversary

As protests erupted in Los Angeles against ICE, Congressional Democrats held a press conference to commemorate the 13th anniversary of DACA. Representative Delia Ramirez from Illinois accused former President Trump of leading a “terrifying campaign” against illegal immigration.

DACA, which stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is a policy that protects certain immigrants who came to the U.S. as children from deportation. Outside the Capitol Building on Wednesday, Ramirez criticized Trump and key figures in his administration for labeling individuals as “undesirable.” She suggested that the president’s tactics could extend even to American citizens, similar to how he dealt with criminal immigrants.

“Trump, Homan, Miller, and the entire administration have launched a fear campaign against our families to push their fascist agenda, portraying immigrants as public enemies,” Ramirez stated.

She firmly declared, “No bans, no walls, no raids, and no masked agents are needed to terrorize the community. We must put an end to these terror tactics.” Ramirez emphasized that the current actions against immigrants might soon be directed at others deemed undesirable by the administration.

California Governor Gavin Newsom described the unrest in Los Angeles as a result of Trump’s actions, suggesting it has traumatized the community. The riots began following immigration enforcement activities in the area, leading Trump to deploy federal forces and Marines to restore order. This decision has faced significant backlash from Democrats, who accuse him of inciting the chaos.

“The illegal activities used against immigrants today will be used against anyone the administration targets tomorrow, as fascism always needs a public enemy,” she continued, calling for solidarity with DACA recipients and their families, including parents and small business owners.

Despite her criticisms, it’s worth noting that federal immigration authorities have reportedly detailed criminal charges against individuals arrested in the context of the protests.

Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders criticized Governor Newsom for refusing federal aid during the unrest. This week, ICE announced arrests made amid the ongoing riots, including individuals with serious criminal charges. Among them was a Mexican citizen arrested on charges related to indecent behavior with children, along with others facing similar serious allegations.

Sources familiar with the events have confirmed a list of arrests made by ICE, including various individuals charged with sexual offenses. The situation continues to evolve as officials address the dual challenges of the protests and the enforcement of immigration laws.
