In-N-Out Announces Changes to Menu Ingredients
A representative for In-N-Out has shared that the beloved fast food chain is set to eliminate artificial dyes and sweeteners from several menu items. This move aligns with their commitment to quality ingredients.
Specifically, In-N-Out will stop using artificial dyes in strawberry milkshakes and pink lemonade. They are also transitioning to a new ketchup recipe that replaces high fructose corn syrup with real sugar—a change many customers might welcome.
“As part of our continued commitment to providing our customers with the highest quality ingredients, we have removed artificial coloring from strawberry shakes and signature pink lemonade,” the spokesperson noted. “We are also moving to upgraded ketchup made with real sugar.”
Some observers, like Kennedy Jr., have long criticized high fructose corn syrup, which he believes contributes to obesity and diabetes. His comments highlight a growing concern about ingredients in our foods.
In related news, the FDA previously announced plans to eliminate eight petroleum-based artificial food dyes from the U.S. food supply by 2026. Kennedy Jr. pointed out that many food producers have been using these chemicals without sufficient public knowledge or consent. He advocates for a return to safer, more natural food standards.
“These toxic compounds do not offer nutritional benefits and pose measurable dangers to children’s health,” Kennedy Jr. stated.
Following this trend, the fast food chain Steak N’Shake has recently opted to use beef fat for its fries instead of seed oils, which have come under scrutiny for their health risks due to oxidation.
“Seed oil is one of the ingredients in processed foods, and all science shows that ultra-processed foods are the main culprits of this extraordinary explosion,” Kennedy Jr. remarked.
Additionally, the FDA has approved three new natural food coloring substances recently, further emphasizing the shift towards more wholesome ingredients.
