Incoming border czar Homan to join Texas Gov. Abbott at key border point, serve meals to troops

Incoming border czar Tom Homan joined Gov. Greg Abbott in a critical border area in Texas on Tuesday to thank him ahead of what is expected to be significant collaboration between the Trump administration and Abbott's team next year. Meals will be provided to troops stationed there during the festival. .

Homan and Abbott will meet and feed members of the Texas National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Homan was appointed “border czar” by President-elect Trump this month following Trump's election victory.

Meanwhile, Mr. Abbott has repeatedly clashed with the Biden administration over border security, with his state bearing the brunt of a historic migrant crisis at the southern border.

Mr. Abbott caused controversy by busing immigrants to “sanctuary” cities such as New York City and Chicago as a way to relieve pressure on the state. The administration also built its own border wall, installed buoys on the Rio Grande and sent in troops to strengthen border security.

Mr. Abbott, a Republican, is likely to work with the incoming administration, with whom he agrees on strengthening border security, ending catch-and-release law, and toughening penalties for people entering the country illegally. Homan appeared on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday and said the incoming administration won't wait until Jan. 20 to begin work.

“We're already planning what we're going to do to lock down Texas,” he said. “Governor Abbott is doing a great job so far. Thanks to Governor Abbott's great work, illegal border crossings in Texas have decreased by over 80%. Governor Abbott has been successful because he has taken Trump's policies and implemented them. .”

“We're going to partner and support border security 100 percent, and we're going to do that across the Southwest border,” he said.

On Monday, Abbott announced that Texas recently installed more buoy barriers on the Rio Grande.

“Texas continues its historic border security mission of deterring illegal immigration and protecting our nation,” he said.

Late Monday, he told Fox News' Sean Hannity that he appreciated the incoming administration and the role Homan would play in it.
